The South West Biosciences Doctoral Training Partnership (SWBio DTP) has launched its latest round of PhD projects, which will begin in September 2025.

The following fully-funded, four-year PhD studentships are available with BBI researchers at University of Bristol.
- ADDomer: Thermostable synthetic self- assembling multiepitope virus-like particle for next-generation vaccines (Main supervisor: Prof Imre Berger)
- Rational cell design using genome-scale mathematical models and machine learning (Main supervisor: Prof Lucia Marucci)
- Tracing and shaping the evolutionary paths of engineered biology (Main supervisor: Prof Thomas Gorochowski)
- Coordination between actin and microtubule motors during endocytosis (Main supervisor: Dr Ferdos Abid Ali)
- Engineering minimal and cargo-activated protein transport machines (Main supervisor: Dr Jessica Cross)
- Exploring and exploiting enzyme catalysed reactions from polyketide biosynthetic pathways (Main supervisor: Prof Chris Willis)
- Mechanism of free fatty acid protection against SARS-CoV-2 viral replication (Main supervisor: Prof Paul Verkade)
- Mechanisms of mechanosensation and membrane tension modulation in red blood cell development (Main supervisor: Prof Ash Toye)
- Enhancing plant-based solar technology for multiple-use energy and food production systems (Main supervisor: Dr Bethan Charles)
